Abstract: Hydrophone calibration is one of the essential activities in a National Metrology Institute with an active ultrasound laboratory. Many methods internationally validated are available to be implemented. Differences rely on the accuracy and investment in equipment and professional skills. This work presents a review of primary hydrophone calibration procedures. The procedures described result from the search selection performed in four academic databases: PubMed Medline, Web of Science, PubMed Central, and Scopus. Using the PICO strategy, the outco’mes could be used to guide a national or primary laboratory to select the more suitable method for calibrating hydrophones.
