Abstract: Here is reported a validation study of an automated setup for turning quartz control plates during measurements of optical rotation at the reference polarimeter of the Optical Metrology Division of Inmetro. Turning was accomplished by two measurement procedures: manually and automated by a stepper motor. Both procedures were compared considering the normalized error calculated with the mean optical rotation and associated expanded uncertainties.
