Resumo:Composite materials are intended to provide a material with different and optimized mechanical, chemical, and physical-chemical properties in relation to its constituents. The aim of this work is to evaluate the mechanical properties of a composite that uses polystyrene as the matrix and the reinforcements used are of two types: sulfonated graphene oxide and graphite ones. The mechanical properties of composite materials obtained by tensile testing were compared with that one of pure polystyrene. Thus, it was possible to observe that some formulations presented better mechanical properties that were able to generate a material with greater degradability in the environment.
